Ford Mustang, two words which thousands across the world can relate to. Owning a Ford Mustang is being part of a family, where most family members don’t have a blood relation to you. No matter how beautiful your Mustang is, you will always praise the Ford Mustang which passed by.
A Childhood Dream Fulfilled – The Story of Two Ford Mustangs
A Dream is Born
It was the year 2001 and I had just passed out of school. One fine day I was getting bored and decided to watch the movie Gone in 60 Seconds and saw this beautiful car named “Eleanor” and I was stumped. It was love at first sight. Ever since that day in 2001 I wanted to own a Ford Mustang. Finished graduation and post graduation but the dream was still embossed in back of my mind.
Touchdown in the Land of Dreams
Fast forward to 9th April 2011 and I landed in what I called “the land of dreams” better known as United States of America. After getting my SSN and bank accounts for address proof I started working on getting a Driving License. Having never driven a car in India I had to take driving lessons here and finally on 29 July 2011 I cleared my driving test in the first attempt.
Confused as hell about my first car
Now comes tough part, which car to buy. I had a lot of options:-
- Nissan 350Z
- Mazda RX8
- Toyota MR2
- Ford Mustang
- Infiniti G35
- Honda S200
I was confused as hell and decided to call a close friend of mine. Navpreet, he is a motorcycle and car enthusiast and I have known him since we were kids (what you call chaddi buddies aka underwear friends). We had a long discussion, he listened to me and this is how the conversation ended.
A Decision is Made
Navpreet:- Dude, all those cars you have listed are awesome. But, tell me one thing. Say you own all of those cars, you take all of them out on a drive each day. Now, there has to be a car which will make your head turn no matter what car you are driving, which car is that?
Me:- thinking…boom. Damn bro, you are right. The childhood dream is to own a Ford Mustang and if that baby passes by I will turn my head even if I am driving a Ford Mustang (I still do).
There was my answer, the confusion was all over. It had to be a Ford Mustang even if I had to wait 2-3 months to come up with the cash.
