How to Boot HTC U11 into Fastboot Mode (Bootloader Mode)

Fastboot mode or bootloader mode is used to issue fastboot commands after connecting your device to a computer or a Mac. Fastboot commands let you flash system images, backup parititions, factory reset your device and much more. Make sure you know what a particular fastboot command does before you execute it, as you can loose all your data if you issue the wrong command in fastboot mode.

  • Turn Off your HTC U11.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down + Power keys for around 5-6 seconds.
  • You will now boot into download mode.

  • Navigate to the reboot to bootloader option using the Volume Up/Down keys, and press the Power key to confirm your selection.
  • That’s it, you will now boot into Fastboot mode (aka Bootloader mode).

How to Boot HTC U11 into Recovery Mode

Recovery mode can be used to factory reset your device, sideload zip files, wipe cache partition, etc. Please note doing a factory reset from recovery mode will result in data loss so make sure you backup your important data.

  • Turn Off you HTC U11
  • Press and hold the Volume Down + Power keys for around 5-6 seconds.
  • You will now boot into download mode.

  • Navigate to the reboot to bootloader option using the Volume Up/Down keys, and press the Power key to confirm your selection. You are now in Fastboot mode (aka bootloader mode)
  • Navigate to reboot to recovery mode option Volume Up/Down keys, and press the Power key to confirm your selection.
  • When you see the exclamation mark (red triangle) press and hold the Power button and press Volume Up once.
  • That’s it, you are now in recovery mode
